Sofapaka played to a barren draw against Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium.
In a closely contested affair, we had the first chance on goal through Roddy Manga. Ben Stanley loafed in a great delivery into Gor Mahia’s box area, but the striker failed to get a touch on the ball, with the attempt landing on Gad Matthews’ arms.
At the half-hour mark, the visitors came close to drawing first blood through Benson Omalla, but goalkeeper Simon Masaka quickly reacted to thwart his attempt and throw him out for safety.
Five minutes before the interval, Alex Imbusia made a long run from the pitch center into the visitors’ danger area before hitting a hard shot just outside the six-yard box, but goalkeeper Gad Mathews was well placed and made an important block.
At the hour mark, upon restart, Ben Stanely came close to giving us the lead, but his teasing volley missed the target by a few inches with the keeper well beaten.
With a quarter of an hour to play, K’Ogalo came close once again through Geoffrey Ochieng. The defender connected on a well-delivered pass, but custodian Simon Masaka was hawk-eyed to keep Ochieng’s attempt at bay.
Against the run of play, Evans Maliachi, Simon Munala, and Ben Stanley all combined well upfront on goal before the latter singled out substitute Kenga. The youngster came so close to scoring the most important goal of the game, but his Ernest Wendo made a quick interception to block his goal-bound attempt as we settled for a point each.
