Second-half goals from Samuel Kapen and Roddy Manga either side were all that mattered as the two teams battled out a one-all draw.
The host kicked off proceedings on a high note in his quest for an early lead in the match. A twin attempt by Dennis Oalo and Ezekiel Odera just eleven minutes into the game almost proved costly. Oalo collected Clifford Ouma’s pass from the center mark before shooting on goal, but David Nshimirimana timely reacted to block his attempt; the rebound landed on Odera, but his shot too was cleared back to play by Nixon Omondi, who made a goal line clearance.
At the half, we had our first realistic chance on goal through Rody Manga. The striker collected Sébastien Sunday’s long throw pass but used a lot of power, seeing his goal-bound attempt go a few inches wide.
Five minutes before the break, Baron Oketch dribbled into the hosts’ penalty area and laid a cut back to Roy Okal, but the midfielder hit the side net as we went in for the breather.
Two minutes after the restart, the host took the lead through Samuel Kapen, who took advantage of a poorly cleared ball to direct the ball past Masaka Simon.
At the half-hour mark, Evans Maliachi and Ben Stanley had a good combination into the City Stars penalty area, with the latter delivering a teasing ball to Rodfy Manga, but the forward failed to direct his attempt, with his header going a few inches off target.
With a quarter of an hour to play, we leveled the scores through Roddy Manga. Second-half substitute Ben Stanley lifted in a well-calculated pass to Roddy Manga, who made no mistakes in directing a pinpoint header past Jacob Osano.
Against the run of play, we came close to snatching a late win through Simon Abuko, but the midfielder hurriedly shot on goal, seeing his attempt hit the woodwork out for safety as we settled down for a point on the road.
