Kigonya is elated to be back at Sofapaka.

The Ugandan international, Mathias Kigonya, has expressed his delight on returning to Sofapaka Football Club.

Speaking for the first time since his return, the former Azam goalkeeper, who played a key role in the club avoiding relegation in 2016, is optimistic about the new season.

On his return to the club

I call Sofapaka home because it gave me the platform to make great moves in my career. I am so delighted and excited to be back at the club and I look forward to a successful second stint with the club.

On his view of the team

The club is well composed, comprising of both experienced and young talents, and this is a great way to have a blended team. I have a good feeling that once we get our footing right, we are going to have a great squad to challenge for honors.

On competition.

There is a lot of competition since I have found two solid keepers and an upcoming golie who are both fighting for a starting breeth. I will have to battle it out and ensure I bring my experience through to help the club do well with the cleansheets.

On his expectations ahead of the new season
The first time I was at the club, we fought relegation, and we were able to survive the chop . This is a fate I do not want to face again. “This coming season we must get the club back to its lost glory and I am optimistic we are going to challenge for title. Concluded Kigonya
