KCB hands Sofapaka a defeat in Annex

A first-half penalty strike by Maurice Ojwang handed Sofapaka its fifth defeat of the season.

In a match staged at Kasarani Annex, both teams had a fair end-to-end attempt on goal in the opening quarter hour of the match.

Five minutes later, a goalmouth melee ensued, leading to the visitors being awarded a penalty. Maurice Ojwang made no mistakes, slotting past Simon Masaka to give the visitors the lead.

At the half-hour mark, we came close to leveling the scores through Rody Manga. The Congolese forward connected to Brian Wepo’s long through only to be denied by the woodwork.

At the stroke of halftime, the visitors had another chance on goal. Keeper Gabriel Andika laid a long ball to Michael Oduor; the former Sofapaka player tried to loop the ball past Simon Masaka, who was advancing forward, but the keeper correctly reacted to collect the ball.

At the hour mark, substitute Alex Imbusia came close to scoring. The midfielder collected a loosely cleared ball by the bankers’ defense, but his hard shot went inches wide.

Twney minutes from time, the visitors had another chance on goal through Kennedy Owino. The speedy winger dribbled into our penalty area only for Simon Masaka to react, making a timely save to deny Owino from close range.

Against the run of play, we had another chance on goal through Alex Imbusia. Simon Masaka quickly lodged a long ball to Imbusia, the forward swiftly collecting Masaka’s delivery before hitting a fierce shot on goal, but Gabriel Andika stood tall to punch his goal-bound effort back to play as the visitors held on for the win.
