COACH FRANCIS: DON’T UNDERESTIMATE YOUR OPPONENTS IN THE PRESEASON CUP

the Elite Cup Pre-Season matches which commences on August 7 2023 at Mpesa Foundation Academy, Thika
The soft-spoken tactician who took charge of the team from David Ouma who was elevated to the Sporting Director role stated that their focus is to concentrate on winning every match in order to clinch the coveted cup.

“It would be very wrong for us to down play any team taking part in this pre-season tournament because you don’t know what they have planned against you. I want us to be very open minded and don’t look down upon any of our challengers just because they play in a lower league than us or that we finished ahead of them in the previous season. They can easily upset us if we are not well prepared,” quipped Haringingo who conducted his first training session with the team August 4 2023.

This will be the first match that the Burudian tactician will be in charge of the 2009 KPL league champions and urged his players to work as a team in order to deliver positive results.

Batoto ba Mungu are up against National Super League (NSL) outfit Kajiado FC in their opening Elite Cup match on Monday at Mpesa Foundation Academy Grounds, Thika from 10 am.

Sofapaka are placed in group A alongside Posta Rangers and Kariobangi Sharks while Group B consists of Bidco United, Nairobi City Stars, Rainbow FC and defending champions Kenya Police FC.

The winner in each group will face off at the finals of the tournament.

In the last edition, Sofapaka began their run with a barren draw against Kariobangi before comfortably cruising past Rainbow FC with an emphatic 4-0 win hence failing to advance to the Semi-finals stage after suffering a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Bidco.

Coach Haringingo is confident of posting positive results in the tournament owing to the great fighting mentality in his players, “In the two training sessions that I have conducted I have witnessed a lot of dedication from players and I believe they have what it takes to produce results in the tournament. I believe playing as a unit will be paramount if we are to win all our matches,” Concluded Haringingo.
