Coach Zico speaks about the Ulinzi match this weekend

Our five previous matches against Ulinzi fc has resulted in 3 draws and 2 losses for us. It is against this backdrop that our gaffer spoke to the teams media about it. And these are his remarks. It is a matter of who wants it most given that currently both teams have different managers as to the ones present during their first leg meet.

He also had this to say about our league table position?
Coach Zico was and is very confident that with God’s help we will not be relegated, even if it is the last match of the league. That much am sure of.

Our match against Ulinzi will be played this Saturday 3pm at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos county. Currently we are placed at position 15th with 27points while Ulinzi is placed 13th on the log with 29pts. We top them with goals scored 27 against theirs’ at 17goals. Currently we have won 7 games and they have 8 wins.

We are going nothing short of a win.

Coach Zico remarks on the next match

The international break season is almost over and we continue with the Mozzartbet cup, round of sixteen. This is what coach Zedekiah (Zico) Otieno said.

So far we have had very good training sessions, and for me, this was like a mid season training camp and we have tried different combinations which will help the team win matches, going forward.

We have played three friendlies during this international break season against Tusker, Mathare United and Young Kings fc the Chapa Dimba Nairobi edition champions.

Bungoma Stars is not an easy team since they eliminated Bandari fc and Talanta fc and therefore we are very ready for the team and we treat this match with the seriousness that it deserves.

The match will be played at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium this Saturday from noon.

“It will not be business as usual at Bukhungu,” States Akwana.

Sofapaka FC will be travelling to Kakamega County to face-off with Last season Mozzart Bet Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium, on November 10 2023.

Sofapaka who have registered mixed results in their last two games after beating KCB 3-0 and losing to a similar margin against Talanta, will be hoping to beat the home side to collect three points that will see them get out of the last position on the league’s log.

Speaking during his last training session at Marist International University College grounds in Karen yesterday Sofapaka’s head coach Ezekiel Akwana stated it is unfortunate that they lost their last home clash against Talanta after their emphatic win against the bankers stating that it was only a matter of time before the boys adapt to his playing style.

“Yes, we played well against Talanta but lost, that match is gone now we focus our energy on the task ahead at Bukhungu. We have prepared well and all that is left is to go there and play according to script, collect three points and wait for our next match,” Quipped Akwana.

After ten matches, Batoto ba Mungu have found themselves in an unusual spot lying at bottom of the table with 7 points after managing only two wins, one draw and losing seven of their matches.

The 2009 champions will be hoping the weather favors them in order to down the Patrick Odhiambo led charges who sit pretty at 8th spot of the table standings on 15 points.

A win at Kakamega will help Sofapaka leap to 14th spot.

I am going to score again today.

Burundian and Sofapaka striker Fiston Razak will be hoping lady-luck will be on his side again when they play host to visiting FC Talanta from 3pm today in their new home turf Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos County.

The lethal forward found the back of the net against KCB where the team won 3-0 at Kasarani Stadium, their second victory of the season after beating Kenya Police FC 1-0 at their home ground a fortnight ago.

The Ken Kenyatta led side currently lie at position 9 having accumulated 12 points from nine matches while Batoto ba Mungu got themselves out of the bottom of the table and leaped two spots up to settle at 16th spot with 7 points.

Speaking before today’s clash Razak acknowledged it was difficult for him to have played over seven games without scoring for the team.

“A striker’s mission is to find the back of the net and now that I have got my mojo back I am planning to score in each of our every match starting today against Talanta,” Noted Razak

In their 3-0 emphatic win against the bankers, mid-fielders Khalid Jumaan and Amos Asembaka scored goal apiece helping the Ezekiel Akwana led side bag the three winning points.

On his part coach Akwana deputized by Francis Xavier stated he is looking to finish the first leg on a high and that means winning each of their upcoming fixtures.

“We are approaching this match with a lot of caution since our opponents are no pushover and are equally a good side. We have had good preparation and I believe the boys will post positive results in the afternoon,”noted Akwana.

A win is what we are going for

After losing by a solitary goal against Tusker FC last weekend at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Sofapaka FC will be looking for redemption when they play KCB FC away at Kasarani Stadium tomorrow.

Batoto ba Mungu need this win in order to get themselves from the bottom of the 18- team log with only four points from 8 matches.

Beating KCB will however not be an easy task as Sofapaka come into this match as underdogs since they have only managed to beat the bankers once in their previous five outings while settling for two draws and two defeats.

Sofapaka’s technical bench led by newly elected coach, Ezekiel Akwana and his assistant Francis Xavier will be under pressure to deliver a win if they are to help the team get out of the tail end of the table standings.

After the defeat Machakos Akwana urged his players to keep their heads up and focus on the next task at hand.

“For me what works best is to concentrate on one job at a time, meaning we should focus on the task ahead (KCB). We have already played against Tusker and we lost, now we should forge forward and start concentrating on our upcoming match,” Quipped Akwana at Kenyatta Stadium after the match against former champions.

Under new coach Bernard Mwalala KCB come into this match red hot expecting to extend their winning run after white-washing Nairobi City Stars FC 4-1 in a one sided affair last weekend.

The bankers currently lie at 3rd position after accumulating 15 points in their eight games, just 4 points shy of league leaders Posta Rangers and 1 a point below defending champions Gor Mahia who sit comfortably at second position on the table standings.

This do or die match has got all the ingredients of a thriller and fans should plan to see the fireworks explode.

Sofapaka fc vs Tusker fc match preview

In what promises to be a thrilling Kenyan Premier League match, Sofapaka is set to host Tusker FC at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County. The stage Is set for a nail-biting encounter that could potentially change the course of both teams.

Sofapaka is coming into this match with a glimmer of hope following their solitary goal victory over Kenya Police FC in their previous outing at their new home stadium in Machakos . This will be the second time they play at their new fortress, and they are eager to secure a vital win.

The hosts find themselves in a precarious situation currently languishing in the relegation zone. With only four points from seven matches , they are acutely aware of the urgency to collect points and climb the league table.

Tusker on the other hand is a formidable team with a rich history having secured the Kenyan premier league title a record13 times. However they are yet to have it all their way this season , as they lie 12th with 8 points. The brewers are determined to bounce back after suffering a shocking 1-0 defeat at the hands of gor Mahia in their previous outing

The history between these two teams shows that tusker fc has had the upper hand. In the previous season, the Ruaraka based side outshined the hosts in both home and away clashes. They won the first leg 1-0 and followed it up with a convincing 2-0 victory in the second leg.

Though they come to this game as underdogs, the hosts are determined to reverse their fortunes in this encounter.

Batoto ba Mungu recently bolstered their technical bench by bringing on board former Mara Sugar head coach Francis Xavier who will be assisting coach Ezekiel Akwana.

During his unveiling Xavier said his sole mission is to ensure that he helps Akwana win all the remaining fixtures starting with Tusker in order to get themselves out of the danger zone and finish the league at a favorable position.

“ We plan to start winning from tusker’s game going forward, if we are to get ourselves from the relegation zone we must win most of our upcoming fixtures,” quipped Xavier.

“We are going for nothing short of a win” says Coach Akwana

Sofapaka FC will be looking forward to collect their first 3 winning points of the season when they play host to visiting Kenya Police FC tomorrow at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos County.

For the first time in over three years an FKF-PL game will be staged at Machakos county. The venue last hosted a league match before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Batoto ba Mungu as they are commonly referred to as will be using the stadium for their home matches and are expecting to produce positive results in front of hundreds of fans who have vowed to turn in large number and support the club tomorrow.

Heading into this match, Sofapaka will be seeking a win in order to remove themselves from the unfamiliar territory that they find themselves, they lie at the bottom of the 18-team log with just a single point, having lost 5 of their matches and drawing in one condemning them to their worst ever league start in the club’s history.

Beating their opponents will not be a walk in the park for the home team since their challengers recently reinforced their technical bench by bringing on board Croatian tactician Zdravko Logarusic who is very experienced in the Kenyan league having coached both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia in the past.

Since taking over Police, Logarusic has led the club to two wins against Nairobi City Stars where he won 1-0 before cruising past Bidco United with a 2-0 victory before the FIFA international break.

Sofapaka has proved to be a tough nut to crack for Police because in their last four previous duels the law enforcers only managed to beat them once and drew in three.

After going down 2-0 away at Muranga Seals Sofapaka Coach Ezekiel Akwana will be seeking redemption and give the team their first win of the season.
“We have to win this match if we are to get ourselves from the bottom, we have had ample training time and morale is high at the camp hence we expect a win tomorrow. My players are more than ready for the task ahead. We urge our fans to come and support at Kenyatta stadium,” noted Akwana
