Benard Muiruri exclusive interview

Youngster Benard Muiruri exclusively speaks on his football career, joining the club, and ambitions.

On his football career;
Born 1st May 2003, the 18-year-old from Taveta district, had his breakthrough in the second edition of the governor’s cup.

“My journey in football began at Chala High school. It’s while at Chala that my passion for the game grew immensely. In 2017 I was privileged to propel the school team to the regional stage of the annual school games.”

Joining Sofapaka would come as a surprise for me but a dream come true

“Second edition of the governor’s cup proved a huge turning point for me professionally. Having played a part in winning the second edition of the governor’s up with Taveta Sisal, a call for trials from top-flight side Sofapaka Football Club came through. After successful trials, I signed my first professional contract with the team.”

On his feeling upon joining the club ;
“Joining one of the biggest clubs in the country was such a huge moment for me. A lot of mixed feelings both happy and surprised too but a big step towards my career development.”

On settling down at the club ;
It hasn’t been easy but a learning process. I feel getting to have an understanding with the squad and am only patient for my time.”

On his active experience at the club;
Have been able to feature in two friendly matches for the club and such an experience it has been getting to play alongside experienced players and I only look forward to many more in the future.”

Muiruri further adds he desires to make his debut for the club and national team.

“I dream to prosper at such a big club. This a big step for me as a player and am looking forward to making each moment count. Without a doubt, it will take me some time but am patient and hopefully when the opportunity knocks I will give my best.”
